Michael Phelps isn’t the only Baltimorean on television these days.
Chuck Kaczorowski, chairman of Kaczorowski Funeral Home in Dundalk, is among the stars in a new ad campaign debuting Wednesday on the cable sports giant ESPN. The 15- to 30-second commercials titled “It’s Not Crazy, It’s Sports” feature real-life stories about fans who take their love of their sports teams with them to the grave.

Kaczorowski features prominently in the spots, where he talks about a Baltimore Orioles casket Kaczorowski Funeral Home offers. Kaczorowski said he has sold the casket twice, the first time earlier this year to a pair of sisters from the Eastern Shore whose father was an Oriole fan.

The casket, featuring a large Orioles logo on the inside of the cover, sits in the front of Kaczorowski’s casket showroom off Dundalk Avenue. As soon as the sisters saw the casket, they knew it was a perfect fit, Kaczorowski said.

“They said ‘Exactly, that’s what dad wanted,’” he said. “Dad was, and they used the term, a die-hard Orioles fan.”

Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw said the man, whom authorities identified as Neil Edwin Prescott, 28, of Crofton, Md., made a threat toward his employer, Pitney Bowes, in two phone calls to his supervisor Monday. Prescott was upset about losing his job and said: “I am the real Joker, and I’m going to blow everyone up,” McGaw said.
