Mink Stole Unwraps a Holiday Role at Creative Alliance

Actress Mink Stole has friends who have no idea what kinds of roles she plays or the nature of the movies that have defined her career.

“I realize if they had seen the movies, they probably wouldn’t have become my friends,” said Stole, who has appeared in all of the feature films made by John Waters, known as “the pope of trash.”

This is after all a woman who hurled epithets at Kathleen Turner in a courtoom in “Serial Mom” and ran over a dog in the road in “Desperate Living.”

The dog, Stole is quick to point out, was aleady dead and donated by a laboratory at Johns Hopkins University

“I mean, I didn’t kill the dog,” she said indignantly, drinking coffee in The Evergreen, a cafe on West Cold Spring Lane.

Cheap Shot: Luke Scott takes aim at Obama

The Baltimore Orioles put some distance between themselves and the comments slugger Luke Scott made Tuesday about the birthplace of Barack Obama (and his job performance) in Answer Man Q&A.

Statement from Greg Bader, Orioles Director of Communications:

“Luke Scott’s comments do not reflect the opinion of the Baltimore Orioles organization. The fact is that Barack Obama is our President, duly elected by the people of the United States. End of story.”

To clarify the O’s clarification, Scott didn’t dispute that Obama was the president — just that he shouldn’t be because:

“He was not born here,” Scott said. “That’s my belief. I was born here. If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go — within 10 minutes — to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, ‘See? Look! Here it is. Here it is.’ The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn’t answer anything.”

Scott’s teammate Adam Jones — with whom, it has been said, Scott enjoys lively politcial and social debate — tweeted about his teammate’s speech:

“Luke Scott Luke Scott Luke Scott you still my boy”

“whatever comments luke scott made were made by him. im his teammate and friend. besides that we have different views so thats that.”

Baltimore Orioles slugger Luke Scott (notes) stopped by baseball’s winter meetings Tuesday and, after some harmless chatter about his team’s offseason dealings, stated with conviction that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.

Oh, yes, he did. Scott’s opinion about the president’s birthplace — while certainly not unique — was a stunning climax to a friendly and frank 20-minute Answer Man session that spanned his enthusiasm for baseball, hunting, firearms, personal responsibility and smaller government.

“[Obama] was not born here,” Scott asserted to Answer Man in the session’s last segment. “That’s my belief. I was born here. If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go — within 10 minutes — to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, ‘See? Look! Here it is. Here it is.’ The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn’t answer anything.”

Baltimore Orioles’ Luke Scott reveals he is a birther, doesn’t believe Obama was born in the U.S.

Baltimore Orioles slugger Luke Scott has hit a foul ball directly at President Obama.

In a radio rant, the outspoken outfielder outed himself as a birther who doesn’t believe Obama was born in Hawaii.

“You don’t think that Obama wasn’t born in the United States, do you?” David Brown of Yahoo’s Big League Stew asked Scott on Tuesday.

“He was not born here,” Scott replied.

And, as Brown audibly sighed, the 32-year-old ballplayer went on a tear against Obama.

“I was born here,” said the Florida native. “If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go — within 10 minutes — to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, ‘See? Look! Here it is. Here it is.'”

Facing pressure from the so-called birther movement, Obama circulated a copy of his birth certificate during the campaign to prove he was not foreign born. Still, like other critics of the president, Scott holds firm to his belief.

“The man has dodged everything,” Scott said of Obama. “He dodges questions, he doesn’t answer anything. And why? Because he’s hiding something.”

Scott continued on in that vein for several more minutes before he began praising the patriots who sacrificed their lives so he could be a big league ballplayer with a $4 million a year salary.

“They gave their life, their blood was spilled, so I had an opportunity to chase a dream and play baseball for a living,” he said.
