Maryland Crabbing: Good Luck Chickin’ Head

chickin

Found this while going through my mom’s notes:

Email from George:

“Every year when crabbin’ season starts, I buy a 40lb. box of skinless chicken necks up at Richardsons’ to use for bait. Well, for some unknown reason there occasionally, out of 400 necks, for the last several years, at least one chicken head is mixed in with the necks. This year was no exception. I have come to believe that this is a good omen. My crab catch since I’ve been getting a chicken head or two each year has been real good.

Might just be superstition, but it works for me.

Looks like another good year, huh?”
