SALISBURY — A 22-year-old man is facing criminal charges after breaking into a home, taking off all his clothing save his underwear and baking a chicken pot pie.
Russell E. Neff was charged with first-degree burglary, theft less than $100, malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest after he allegedly broke in the front door of a Civic Avenue house, while the owner was home and proceeded to make himself at home.
The incident began around 10:23 p.m. on Aug. 15 when the homeowner heard Neff banging on his front door, trying to get inside, which is when he called 911.
The homeowner went upstairs and hid while Neff allegedly broke into the home. When deputies arrived they round Neff sitting in a chair in the living room licking the remote control in nothing but his underwear, according to police documents.
Police say Neff was also cooking a chicken pot pie he found in the kitchen. When they attempted to handcuff him, Neff allegedly resisted.
Following an initial appearance in front of the District Court Commissioner, Neff was held at the Wicomico County Detention center on $250,000 bond.
