Susan Allenback — The Hometown Tourist

“Not long ago, Susan Allenback realized that, though born and bred in Maryland, she had never truly taken advantage of what the state has to offer, from the low country of the Eastern Shore to the area nicknamed “Little Switzerland” in far Western Maryland’s Garrett County. So much to see, so close to home! Today, Susan joins Dan in studio to share her adventures and discoveries — all made on a single tank of gas right here in Maryland — as the Hometown Tourist.”

On this podcast Susan visits Smith Island and the Crystal Grottoes Cavern:

Heard you on Dan Rodericks’ show and called in about the Train Garden at the Rawlings Conservatory; hope you will come over to see it. It has 4 different ‘scenes’ and sits amid a gorgeous display of pointsettias as well as a ‘living wall’ of green by Mundo Ortega. The Holiday Show kicks off tomorrow night at the Sneak Peek event from 6-8pm. Open Wed-Sunday 10am -4pm. Have you visited the Conservatory? I fell in love with it after FINALLY going there in early 2000 and prior to its being ‘saved’ by Delegate Rawlings & Peggy Stansbury (see her wonderful book: Glass House).
