Maryland Morning Screen Test: Pat Moran

Pat Moran is a renowned casting director whose stamp can be found on numerous feature films and television shows. She’s worked with John Waters, Barry Levinson, David Simon, and many of the industry’s top directors. “John Waters taught me how to do it,” says Moran, about casting. “And Barry Levinson legitimized me.”

On September 28, the woman who judges screen tests for a living took one of her own — the Maryland Morning Screen Test. Arts and culture ace Tom Hall interviewed her in front of a live audience at the Windup Space in Baltimore’s Station North. They talked about how she spots talent, how she works with directors and writers, and how to make a squad room look like a squad room.
